Event Staffing Agencies: Hiring Quality Event Staff

Event staffing agencies, this blog is for you! We’re turning the tables today to share some of our knowledge with fellow agency owners. As a leading agency for the last 12 years, we have learned the ins and outs of what makes an event and staffing agency successful. Today we want to share them with you!

What is the number one thing people want when they go to an event? Quality service. And that’s exactly what you can provide them with by hiring quality staff for the event. You may not think it, but there are a lot of different things to consider when looking for quality staff and it all starts with knowing what the client is looking for in a candidate. In this blog post we’ll break down some of the top qualities any good event staffing agency should be looking for in their team members so that you have a better idea of how to hire someone who will do well on your team!

What Qualities Should You Look For?

Great communication skills, especially when it comes to speaking in front of people. This is very important for events because you never know who will come up and chat with your team members or ask questions during the event! You want someone who can easily speak on their feet and be able to keep a conversation going with any guest.

Team Work Skills: It’s also important that your staff members work well as a team and we aren’t just talking about on the job! You want to make sure they can get along with their co-workers because working at an event is like being part of one big family!

Experience: A huge plus is to hire someone who has experience in hospitality or event management. While it isn’t necessary, they will be more aware of what needs to get done and how the flow of events typically goes.

What Qualities Should You Avoid?

Now that you know what qualities to look for in your staff, here are some things to avoid when it comes down to hiring the perfect candidate!

Don’t hire someone who isn’t punctual. You want people who can show up on time and get right into work mode once their shift starts. Staffing is hard enough, look for team members that don’t make it harder by being reliable.

Don’t hire someone who isn’t passionate about the job. Passion always shows through, especially for those long trade show or 7AM shifts.

Don’t hire people that aren’t professional or have a bad attitude! There is nothing worse than a brand ambassador with a bad attitude. Avoid at all cost.

The number one thing is to always remember: you get what you pay for, so invest in hiring quality staff and they will do their best work for your event! Pay the team members well and offer incentives to do an incredible job.

These are just some of the qualities you should be looking for in your staff, but if there are others that you look at when hiring new team members please share them with us!
